I got this turkey burger recipe from my mom. It has a bit of an Asian twist to it and it is definitely our go-to healthy alternative to a burger.
1 pound ground turkey meat
1 large garlic clove, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
1/2 cup bread crumbs, seasoned with salt and pepper
1 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
Pat the ground turkey meat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Mix the turkey with all other ingredients in a bowl until just combined, being careful to not overwork it. Divide mixture into three or four equal portions (depending on how large you like your burgers), and shape into patties. Chill patties in refrigerator for about fifteen minutes to hold their shape. Preheat a grill, grill pan, or cast iron pan to medium heat. Carefully brush the grill grates with the oil or add the oil to your pan. Cook the patties for 10-12 minutes, then flip and cook for 10-12 minutes more, or until completely cooked through. Serve the patties with your choice of garnish. We like lettuce, tomato slices, and ranch dressing.
