Fazi Battaglia- Verdicchio Dei Castelli di Jesi Classico 2004

Romans beware!

Romans beware!

This varietal is similar to a Pino Grigio, but there are some notable differences. This Verdicchio is bone dry, but it is creamy and mellow. It also has hints of citrus flavors.  We also detected a slight carbonation, and we love bubbles. We paired this with coconut shrimp and noodles with peanut sauce.

The history of this varietal is almost as good as the wine itself. In 410 BC, Alaric, King of the Visigoths, had 40 mules carrying barrels of Verdicchio on his march through the Italian Alps. He did this because he believed this wine maintained and stimulated the strength of his soldiers. That’s right, this is the wine that helped fell the Roman Empire and usher in the dark ages! Enjoy Responsibly, and the Vatican thanks you :).
